Rawah Ranch is nestled in the stunning mountains of Colorado in Glendevey. The word “Rawah” is derived from a Ute Native American term meaning ‘abundance” and the landscape lives up to the name, the Rawah Wilderness spans roughly 76,394 acres.
The story of Rawah Ranch began when the railroad companies set their ranch legacy in motion when President Theodore Roosevelt signed the deed of trust for the land Rawah Ranch occupies as part of a land acquisition. Soon after, the valley was added to what would eventually become the Roosevelt National Forest. With the passage of the Wilderness Act in 1964, the Rawah Wilderness Area was preserved indefinitely. Earlier, in 1948, a man by the name of Ralph Jordan had the great foresight to establish Rawah Ranch, not as a cattle ranch, but as a place for guests to simply visit – to stay in comfortable accommodations, enjoy hearty meals, and take in the beauty of the surrounding wilderness.
Today, Rawah Ranch seeks to capture the same original vision by welcoming guests from across the country and around the world to their magnificent historic mountain escape. Along with horseback riding, hiking & many other activies, they also offer fishing for Arctic Grayling.
Whether you're planning a family vacation, a romantic trip, or a solo adventure, consider exploring the beauty and magic of Rawah Ranch. Your experience through its rich history and stunning landscapes is waiting for you!
